Five Top Tips for Flawless Wedding Day Make Up

WELCOMING Victoria Bradfield

Recommended wedding make up artist Victoria Bradfield joins Bruisyard to share her advice for your wedding day

Bruisyard Country Estate Wedding Venue is one of my all time favourite venues, in my home county of Suffolk, I am super proud to have been a recommended supplier here for the last 11 years.

It’s truly one of the most stunning venues I get the honour to visit as part of my job.

Bruisyard County Estate is the most beautiful Tudor house set in 700 acres of grounds containing a priest hole (yes I had to google what that was) and was also once also a nunnery. (I love the rich history it has!)

Filled with the most wonderfully, naturally lit rooms for getting you and your bridal party ready and perfect backdrops for those ‘insta’ memory’s.

Some of my favourite pictures are these, taken on a styled shoot at Bruisyard which shows off some of the most beautiful places you can have pictures taken on your big day.

I really believe that your bridal makeup should be timeless. Selecting a look that accentuates your natural beauty. Don’t try to recreate someone else’s makeup look for you. It’s important that you feel the most beautiful version of you on your wedding day.

Make Up Trial

With regards to the trial, I recommend that my brides have it no late than six weeks before the wedding day just in case for some reason you could not make it to the trial you don’t want it to be right on top of the wedding and worried about not fitting it in. Once your booking is confirmed you can have the trial any time you like especially if you wanted to tie in with another occasion or appointment.

Skincare

Once you make a booking with me, I will go through your skin care with you. I’m fully trained in beauty so I know how best to get your skin ready for your wedding day makeup. Around six months before your wedding day you really need to get very serious about your skincare routine if you don’t already have one, this will help when it comes to your trial that the Makeup sits beautifully on your skin, and even more so on your wedding day. I can help by recommending any products or anything you can add into your routine to make sure your skin is looking fabulous.

The night before

The night before, make sure all labels are off dresses, shoes etc have a wedding day playlist ready, nails painted, maybe even consider doing gifts if you’re all together as that can become a rushed part of the day or do it early before makeup incase of teary eyes. Get your bag ready if you’re having one and lay out all your jewellery and accessories so you’re not hunting for anything and getting stressed. Make it as easy as possible for yourself!

Wedding day touch ups

During your wedding day of course you’ll need to touch up your lipstick. I always offer a lipstick retouch kit as part of my package or you have the option to purchase full priced one if you’d rather have a lipstick of your own. It’s advisable to have a concealer and a little bit of powder just may be bit later in the day or the evening, if there’s any shine or blemish that just needs a little retouch but usually well applied makeup doesn’t need looking after. There is always an option to have me stay on if you wanted to change the looks slightly or just wanted to check it over before the evening.

Enjoy yourself

My top tip is to just enjoy your day, the lead up to it, your appointment for Hair, Makeup, Dress fittings. On the day try not to worry about walking down the aisle everybody’s there to see you and of course your partner and they just want the best for you it shouldn’t be a scary moment it’s a wonderful moment that we all dream of you’re now living it.
